Young People Service

The practice provides advice on relationships and sexual health issues or any other health issues which are causing you concern. Make an appointment at reception to see a GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

Services include:-

  • Free emergency contraception (morning after pill)
  • Contraception advice
  • Free condoms
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Chlamydia testing
  • Drug and alcohol advice
  • Any other sexual health or relationship advice

Spectrum also provide a free  confidential contraceptive and sexual health advice service. Spectrum staff are highly trained to assist you in making informed decisions about sex and sexual health.  Their aim is to reduce the rates of sexually transmitted infections and teenage pregnancies in the Wakefield area.  Please ring 01924 846628 for advice or to make an appointment with them.

C-Card (Condom Service)

The C-Card scheme is a free and confidential service for young patients aged between 13 and 25.  It allows you to collect free condoms from us.  You must register for the service by attending a ‘No Worries’ appointment or on-line at    https://www.wfact-ccard.org.uk/register/self_login.asp .

Kooth

Kooth is a free online service that will offer emotional and mental health support for children and young people.  When you sign in you can choose an Avatar(character) and this helps keep you safe and anonymous.  When you sign in you can have a ‘drop-in chat’ with a counsellor or therapist, or you can book a one-to-one session.   The counsellors and therapists are available 365 days a year up until 10.00pm.  You can also chat to other young people anonymously on the forums whenever you wish. When you are signed up you can access the online magazine.

Who is it suitable for?

Kooth is suitable for any children or young people aged 11-19 (25 in some areas).  It can help with lots of different problems including:-

  • Family Problems
  • Eating disorders
  • Loneliness
  • Bullying
  • Anxiety and Depression

Confidentiality

We offer everyone, including those under 16, a free and confidential sexual health service.

We would only share your information with other professionals to protect you or others from serious harm. We would always try to discuss this with you first.
